The Cayman AIDS Foundation (CAF) is seeking volunteers in the new year.
CAF CEO Noel Smith says, in the past it’s been difficult to find volunteers, because they feel shunned. He says the stigma and discrimination of HIV/AIDS, has passed onto volunteers. It’s something, he says, he personally experienced.
Mr. Smith says, this is why it’s important to continue to educate the public about HIV/AIDS. When people understand who it works, and grasp that it is preventable, then we can break the stigma.
The foundation isn’t looking for particular skill sets, but rather dedicated volunteers. The main area of work, is help with community education programmes.
