The Cayman Islands Fire Service is putting a focus on safety and fire prevention, by embarking on a public education campaign. There will be many facets to the campaign, but the Fire Service is starting with smoke detectors.
Smoke detectors are a first warning of a potential fire in your home. When it comes to smoke detectors placement is key. There should be one on every level of your home, including the basement. It’s also important to constantly check your smoke detector every month, and replace it every 10 years. You should also consider investing in interconnected detectors.
The Fire Service is also making an effort to reach out to all parts of the community, by ensuring Spanish speakers are well informed of proper safety measures.
