Every month counsellors from the Family Resource Centre (FRC) share tips and advice to help parents on Daybreak’s Parenting Plus series. Families looking for a personalized attention, can take part in the FRC’s many services.
All services offered by FRC are free, confidential, and are run by trained and qualified personnel.
There are programmes that run on a longer term basis, such as parenting coaching. For families who don’t have the time to commit to a longer programme, but still want support, they can take advantage of monthly events like FRC’s Family Skills Session.
The team at the FRC says often families think they can only use their services, when they are in crisis mode, but that’s not the case. Any family can take part in the programmers offered by centre.
For families that are in a crisis centre, the FRC works will help to de-escalate the situation and then refer the family to the Department of Counselling Service. The FRC falls under the blanket of the Department, which makes for a fluid process. For families facing addition, the FRC’s sister agency Caribbean Haven, offers free rehabilitation.
