Poinciana festival kicks off

The Poinciana Festival is curating the best of Cayman’s film, art and music scene, in one place, for everyone to see. Work on the festival began and year, and organisers say they are excited to it all to kick off.

Over a hundred artists have submitted work into the festival. Organiser Will Doran says it’s indicative of the wide scope of talent on the island, “Cayman is on a surge of creativity, at the heart of that is the people of Cayman.”

The festival kicks off this week, with an art showing at the Strand. The public can see all the work submitted in the art category and place their vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The core festival will begin next week (29 -31 January). Day one will take place on Cardinall Avenue. All day visitors can enjoy food, music and art. The following day visitors are encouraged to head to Regal Cinema to see a series of films made in Cayman. The festival wraps up with an award ceremony at the Harquail theatre.
