Bolt rumours swirl but Cayman Invite leaders say he’s not confirmed

Several sources tell Cayman 27 that Usain Bolt may return to our shores for the 2016 Cayman Invitational.

Meet officials, however, are not confirming Bolt’s participation and say any source outside of the local organising committee is not credible.

The 2016 Cayman Invitational is slated for Saturday 14 May, according to the meet’s Facebook page. The annual meet serves as Cayman’s lone professional athletics competition.

Bolt back in 2013 ran in the race to much fanfare locally. He edged fellow countryman Kemar Bailey-Cole in the 100-metre dash.

It’s anticipated a press conference will be held in the coming weeks to announce this year’s lineup.
