A man appears in court Monday (8 February) charged with rape.
Construction worker Marlon Porter is also accused of wounding the woman and causing her alarm or distress.
Mr. Porter appeared in court where lawyers on his behalf made an unsuccessful application for bail.
During the hearing, the court heard how the woman said she accepted a lift with the accused after meeting him in a bar.
She told police the pair was meant to go and get some food, but instead she claims he drove her to sparky drive where he raped her.
The alleged victim says he then left her and she walked around a mile and saw a garbage man who called police.
In his defence, Mr. Porter told police during interview the woman had agreed to have sex with him in exchange for $50. He then said when the woman realised he had more money, she demanded a further $200 or would tell police he raped her.
Mr. Porter was remanded in custody until 11 March.
