Gymnasts leap to medals in Florida

Cayman’s gymnasts over the weekend came away with some hardware after competing in Florida at the Gasparilla Classic.

The level three athletes earned first place as a team, while the level two and level four athletes led their teams to second place finishes in their respective divisions.

In all, 22 gymnasts from Cayman participated.

Individual medal winners included Meaghan Fowler, who won bronze in the level three balance beam.

In level two, Natalie Bodden earned silver on the vault and bronze on the bars to take third place all-around. Bethany Hawkins earned bronze on vault and Morgan Crowley bronze on bars.

In division four girls, Emmi Daykin won silver on the beam and bronze on the floor routine. Gabrielle Royston won bronze on the bars and Cameron Doak bronze on the balance beam.

Boys athletes competed as well, taking home several top-10 finishes in their respective classes.
