Kites for cancer

A group of ten kite surfers successfully made the journey from Little Cayman to Grand Cayman to raise money for a worthy cause.

The Cayman Islands Cancer Society dedicates itself to cancer patients despite having a limited staff, so the kite surfers decided to use their passion and skills to create awareness in a way that has never been done here before.

“Kiting is kind of a new sport here and they want to promote the sport and of courseĀ  so something good for the cancer society along the way, so they decided to do it here and gathered all this support, initially they thought 3 or 4 people and then it ended up being 10 and I think the sport is going to grow the interest in kiting overall is going to grow and certainly the Cancer Society’s coffers are going to grow,” said Jennifer Weber, operations manager of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.

Surfing 100 miles over the Caribbean and raising more than $100,00 for the Cayman islands cancer society, this team of “Kiting for Cancer” has set a high standard for extreme fundraising.
