Kiting for Cancer a success

Last week 10 brave people took to the open water, and kitesurfed from Little Cayman, to Grand Cayman. The team didn’t just do it for the thrill of completing the challenge, but to support the cancer society.

Looking back at the experience Amy Stzalko says “we knew we could do it, but we were all so excited that we could do it”.  She says everyone is still on a bit of high from the whole experience. The wind wasn’t as strong as the team was hoping for at the start of the challenge. In the end it took them 8 hour and 36 minutes.

The challenge racked in over $170,000 for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. It’s the biggest fundraiser for the society. Jennifer Weber of the cancer society says “it’s huge” for the them. Currently approximately 140 patients are being supported by the society. Mrs. Weber says it’s a comfort to know the funds are there to help people in need.
