National ruggers prep for upcoming internationals

A pair of Cayman Islands National rugby squads this weekend will ramp up preparations ahead of major upcoming international competitions.

Cayman’s National men’s sevens team Saturday (27 February) is set to host the University of Michigan’s club sevens team at the South Sound pitch. The match is meant to help the team prepare for its trip to the Hong Kong Sevens tournament.

Cayman’s National men’s XV team, meanwhile, is getting ready for Big Game 6 later this year versus Bermuda, which will kick off 2019 Rugby World Cup qualifying for the local squad.

The XVs will on 27 February will play against a local club select team. It’s the first of a three-game international warm-up series.
