Miriam Foster of the Family Resource Centre (FRC) says the centre has seen an increase in the number of adults seeking treatment and counseling for depression and anxiety. She says it’s also an issues teens in Cayman face.
Mrs. Foster says first and foremost “you have to know your child”. If they are not engaged the way they use to be, this could be a red flag.
She does caution that some children are natural worriers, and that it’s not something they can snap out of.
Mrs. Foster says it’s important for parents to empower their children.
The FRC will be hosting a family skill session that will often parents and teen tips on coping with depression and anxiety.
