The 2016 Legends at Camana Bay event opened serve over the weekend with some of the biggest names in the game.
In fact, between them, participating players boast six grand slam singles appearances among them and some are among the most popular athletes in pop culture.
The likes of Andy Roddick, Anna Kournikova, Jim Courier and Mark Phillippoussis took the court Friday and Saturday (5-6 February) at the Festival Green court.
The weekend featured several mixed doubles, doubles and singles matches. On Friday, Richard Branson made an appearance in a game as well.
While fans got to see of the legends of the game play, it was a man without a household name — Mansour Bahrami — who stole the show. Bahrami used several trick shots to entertain the crowd, which also got to interact closely with the players on the court.
One new face for this tournament was American Ashley Harkleroad, who played in several matches over the weekend.
“It was so fun,” she said. “I was so grateful to be here and to play against all these great champions,” Harkleroad said. “I was really pleased with how I played. I thought the crowd was super energetic and I felt a lot of love.”
In addition to the two days of play, the players also spent time holding clinics for local players, students and Special Olympics Cayman Islands athletes.
