Public help welcomed, but more needed

Detectives say they have had a fantastic response from the public over last week’s diamond heist, but still want to hear more.

In particular, they want to find out where the men disappeared to, after fleeing the scene onboard a white dirt bike.

They were caught on camera at the Fidelity roundabout, but didn’t reach the one near CostULess.

Meanwhile police say the pair stole individual diamonds, but may have a problem selling them on.

“The items are all loose diamonds,” said Detective Superintendent Mike Cranswick.

“They will all have certificates as diamonds. Making them difficult to pass on to a legitimate diamond dealer. That’s always the same with any diamond. So they are potentially identifiable.”

There have been reported sightings of the men the day before the robbery in and around George Town.

Anyone with information that could help the police, or if you saw the dirt bike with two men on board call detectives in George Town on 949-4222.
