An American couple has cancelled a planned vacation to Cayman, for fears of the zika virus.
Although there have been no reported cases of the virus on our shores, it’s not stopped Sam and Colleen Pritchard from pulling the plug on the trip.
Colleen is six months pregnant and says her doctor has warned her not to travel. Now the couple is trying to get their fares back from American Airlines.
“It seems that its developing daily, every day, it changes or they find something new and that’s the scary part,” said Mrs. Pritchard.
Her husband Sam added: “Don’t think its smart on their part because every recorded case so far here in Texas is from people who have been travelling, I feel like we could be the third case that pops up next week.”
So far there are 10 confirmed cases of zika in Texas, where the Pritchards are from, including the first case of the virus being transferred sexually in Dallas County.
American Airlines has offered them credit for their ticket purchase, which would be valid for one year.
