US, Mexico win to open CONCACAF women’s Olympic qualifying

The United States and Mexico both rolled to shutout wins to open the group stages of CONCACAF women’s football Olympic qualifying.

The US beat Costa Rica 5-0 thanks two a pair of goals from Alex Morgan. Carli Lloyd, Crystal Dunn and Christen Press also added scores.

“I think the support and help of the teammates was huge,” Lloyd said afternoon. “I think we had some good combination plays.”

In the days other match, Maribel Domingues scored three times to left Mexico to a 6-0 win over Puerto Rico. Nayeli Rangel, Alina Garcia-Mendez and Katlyn Johnson also scored for the Central American side.
