Armed man threatens WB liquor store staff

An armed man who broke into a West Bay liquor store Saturday (12 March) and threatened staff apparently got away with nothing.

Police say the attempted robbery happened soon after 9:00 pm when two employees of  JS Liquor store in Batabano Plaza were alerted by a loud bang at the business’ side glass door.

They saw a man removing broken glass and trying to enter the business.  The suspect threatened them with a gun and they ran out of the store. Police say, while they were running away, “They heard a loud explosion which sounded like a gun shot.”

Police describe the suspect as dressed in a dark jacket with a hoody covering his head. He wore dark coloured gloves and black shoes. He was about 5 ft. 8 in. tall.

No one was physically injured and nothing appeared to have been stolen at the time of the report.

Anyone who may have information about the attempted robbery is asked to contact West Bay Police Station at 949-3999 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).
