Barnes, Dyer earn more hardware on 2nd day of CARIFTA track

Lacee Barnes and Dominic Dyer each won their second respective medals of the meet to highlight the action for Cayman Islands athletes on day two of the 2016 CARIFTA Track and Field Championships Sunday (27 March), in Grenada.

Cayman now has five medals in the competition. There are still some day two field events taking place at the time of this post.

Barnes began the day by winning silver in the girls under-18 discus throw. Her best heave of 43.67 metres trailed only Jamaica’s Aiko Jones. It marks Barnes’ second medal of the meet as she won gold on day one in the shot put.

It marks Dyer’s second medal, too, as the distance specialist won silver in the boys under-18 3,000-metre run. Dyer crossed the line in 9-minutes, 6.33 seconds. He won bronze the day before in the 1,500.
