Car flips on bypass, five injured

Five family members received minor injuries in a traffic crash Friday (25 March) afternoon on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway in West Bay.  It happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. south of the roundabout to Public Beach and involved a single vehicle, a Ford Explorer that rolled over.  The cause of the crash is unknown.  A Fire Services worker says the injured were all members of the same family and were taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town.

Traffic on the southbound lanes of the bypass was diverted to West Bay Road, and the clean-up led to traffic delays in both directions.

  • I can never understand why we have so many one car accidents in Cayman, many like this one in broad daylight and dry conditions. Thank goodness local drivers don’t have to deal with snow and icy roads!. Hopefully in this case all were wearing seatbelts and there were no serious injuries.
