Caribbean stars shine at CARIFTA track

Several Caribbean juniors showed why they’re some of the most promising in the sport over the weekend at the CARIFTA Track and Field Championships.

Among the highlights, Jamaica’s Christopher Taylor — one of the most prominent names in regional track — won the under-14 boys 400-metre dash, taking it in a time of 47.36 seconds.

Jamaica’s discus thrower Philippe Barnett set a new record in the under-18 division of the event. His only legal throw came in at 60.44 metres, nearly 10-metres better than the previous record.

In the boys under-20 200-metres, Trinidad and Tobago’s Akanni Hislop crossed the line first in 20.89 seconds.
