CayDance brings the art form to the public

KRI Performing Arts School is hosting its second annual CayDance. CayDance is an international dance festival. The festival brings dancers from around the world, to Cayman, to share the art form. Kirk Rowe, the festival founder, says the festival is great because it is “getting people to see dance” and is “bringing dance to everyone, all forms of dance.”

The visiting performers are the salsa duo Javier & Yesonia, Kaydance & Co. from Tampa, Florida, dancer Guy Thorne, and Chicago dance group Anjoligue. In addition to their performance, students of KRI Performing Arts School will also perform during the festival.

The festival kicked off with a special salsa workshop. Other events set to take place included the opening night (Wednesday 9 March), and an all day performance on Thursday. In addition to the public performances, the visiting artists will be going into schools sharing dance with local pupils.
