Economy and environment face off in beach rock removal debate

Dart realty’s latest plan, removing Seven Mile Beach rock to facilitate a five-star hotel.

It’s a topic the country has been grappling with, the push for economic development while ensuring the impact to the environment is minimal.

It’s a balancing act that’s tough to achieve.

Cayman 27’s Tammi Sulliman and Joe Avary discuss the ramifications of the Dart hotel project, from job creation, to the geologists contracted to research the plan, the push-back from environmentalists, the changing sea front, and the Ministry of Environment’s reaction to the plan.
