Fraser puts swimming career on hold

The Cayman Islands’ most accomplished swimmer is putting his career in the pool on hold.

Two-time Olympic qualifier Brett Fraser tells Cayman 27 he’s taking a break from competitive swimming to pursue other interests.

Fraser at the 2012 London Olympics became the first Caymanian to qualify for the semifinals in any swimming event.

In 2011 he became the first Cayman Islands swimmer to win gold at a Pan-American Games.

Brett’s brother, Shaune Fraser, also has stepped away from competitive swimming, meaning that neither of Cayman’s Olympic qualifiers in the pool in 2012 are likely to compete at this years Olympic Games, in Rio de Janeiro.
