Hyman advances to World Championship semifinals

Cayman Islands sprint-double record holder Kemar Hyman advanced to the semifinals over the weekend at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon.

Hyman finished fourth in his preliminary race, clocking a 6.67 seconds. That was good enough to grab the final at-large qualifying spot for the semifinals.

In the semis, Hyman posted a season’s-best time of 6.61 seconds, but that was not good enough to get through to the finals round.

“I think I gave it a good shot,” Hyman said. “I ran a season’s best. I definitely had to run fast and definitely had to get out with those guys in the semifinals. You know, I came up short but I’m really happy with my performance.
