Must-win scenario as Scholars plays in 2nd CFU Club Championship match

Scholars International is set to kick off its second match of the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship at 8 p.m. tonight (11 March) when it plays defending tournament champion Central FC, of Trinidad and Tobago.

Scholars lost its Group 3 opener to host club Montego Bay United, 4-0.

The local club must win this one to keep its chances of advancing through to the next round alive.

Much like its previous matchup, Scholars is an underdog in this one. Central FC is an odds-on favourite while Scholars’ odds of winning are set at 12-1. The odds of a draw are 7-1. The over/under is 2.5 goals.

After the loss earlier this week, Scholars Captain Thomas Elliott said the club must get focused on getting over the lopsided loss.

“We licked our wounds and got ourselves as prepared as we could,” Elliott said. “Central FC are the best team in this group. They’re the champions of this cup. They’re the champions of Trinidad. So we know what we’re gonna be up against. It’s gonna be another battle.”
