Opposition weighs in on Commissioner departure

Tuesday night (29 March), MLAs Bernie Bush, Captain Eugene Ebanks and Opposition Leader Hon. McKeeva Bush hosted a rally at he four way stop in West Bay to display their frustrations of the way the country is being run, with emphasis on the lack of law enforcement and the problems it creates.

Around 40 people were at the demo, and the topic on everyone’s lips was the departure of Commissioner Baines. “Yes, the Commissioner has announced his resignation. That may very well be a good start for us but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of our problem, what we have to ensure now is that, he is replaced with a competent capable individual who truly has the interests of our country, of our people and our safety at heart,” said Captain. Eugene Ebanks.

Commissioner of Police David Baines had resigned on Tuesday (29 March) afternoon, making Deputy Commissioner Anthony Ennis the new acting commissioner until further notice.
