Police hunt “hamburglar” after thwarted robbery attempt

A would-be robber found out that you can’t always “have it your way,” even if you are wielding a machete.

Police told cayman 27 a man in dark clothes and a covered face got away without so much as a side of onion rings Thursday night. He entered the Waterfront Burger King just after nine o’clock, brandishing a machete and demanding cash from the staff.

But police said the quick-thinking employees had their own whopper of an idea. Instead of handing over the money, they ran to the back of the restaurant and locked themselves in an office where they called for help.

The culprit, apparently hungry to keep his freedom after the failed robbery attempt, ran away empty-handed before police arrived.

If you have any information on this attempted robbery, you’re urged to contact George Town police at 949-4222
