Preston expected more from Scholars

One Jamaican-based sports journalist tells Cayman 27 he expected more from Scholars International in the recent Caribbean Football Union Club Championships.

Simon Preston covered most of the Group 3 action, which included Scholars, Montego Bay United and Trinidad and Tobago’s Central FC. Scholars was outscored 10-0.

“To be very honest I was expecting a more dynamic performance from Scholars,” Preston said. “I’ve been watching both highlights and online games of them in the Cayman Islands Premier League and I was expecting a much better display.

“But you have to give credit to the Jamaican team, Montego Bay United, and Central, from Trinidad, who used their physicality well to put Scholars off their game in this tournament.”

Trinidad had two teams advance to the semifinals of the tournament, Central FC and W-Connection. Jamaica’s Arnette Gardens and Haiti’s Don Boscoe join them.
