Third road death for the year

Three months in and three deaths on our roads. Chris Ollen McLaughlin is the latest person to have died on our streets.

On Friday (11 March) the Toyota Mark II that he was traveling in struck a CUC concrete pole, along Sea View Road near the Blow Holes.

When emergency services personnel arrived on the scene he was unresponsive and rushed to the Cayman Islands Hospital. A short time later, he succumbed to his injuries.

Friends and family of Mr McLaughlin took to popular social media sites like Facebook to express the loss and heart ache, as well as their condolences.

One person wrote, “Rest in peace bro, can’t believe you are gone. Only last night you were by me talking.”

Another wrote,” East End has lost a dear friend, one that we will never forget. He was the type of guy that always made you laugh and was fun to hang out with. I’ve know Chris from we were young kids. You will be deeply missed.”

2015 was the worst year on record for road fatalities in Cayman, and so far the country is keeping pace with that somber mark, with three fatalities in the first quarter.
