US wins CONCACAF U-17 girls title

Civana Kuhlmann scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to give the United States a 2-1 win over Mexico in the CONCACAF Girls Under-17 Championship final.

Ashley Sanchez put the US on the board in the 43rd before Jacquline Ovalle equalised for Mexico in the 69th.

Kuhlmann then delivered the final blow as the US celebrations began.

“It signifies two years of hard work,” Sanchez said afterward. “I mean Mexico gave us a great game but everything we had we just gave and it ended up working out in the end.”
