Cayman’s top athletics stars took off 1 March in the first day of the 2016 Inter-Secondary School Track and Field Championships at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.
Clifton Hunter High School’s Orlando Wellington was one of the highlights on the first day of competition. He took first place in the boys 10-13 year old long jump. He also won the high jump for his age group.
Dominic Dyer also won a pair of events on the day, taking first in the boys 16-17 year old 3,000 metres and 800 metres.
There are seven schools and more than 360 athletes taking part in this year’s meet, the eighth Inter-Secondary school meet.
Clifton Hunter has emerged as the team winner for three-straight years but it’s John Gray High School that leads the points race after day one.
