West Indies may be without the help of all-rounder Andre Russell at the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 Championship after it was revealed he may violated international doping rules.
Russell could be banned up to two years for the infraction.
Jamaica’s Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) announced it learned Russell committed an “anti-doping whereabouts” violation, reporting he missed three tests in a 12-month period.
In the eyes of global doping laws, that’s the equivalent of a failed test as athletes are required to make themselves available to local anti-doping agencies.
Russell is on the Windies’ squad for the T20 championship. JADCO said it learned of the issue two weeks ago.
