Young Caymanian Leadership Awards, touted by some as the Oscars of the Cayman Islands, recognising young outstanding citizens of our community are applauded for their efforts.
Nominations open today. The Young Caymanian Leadership Committee, was set up to inspire the community by highlighting young people making strides in leadership, community involvement and a strong commitment to mentoring young people. With teens being vulnerable to negative influence, young people are nominated to sway at-risk youth from going down the wrong path.
“These are the young minds that we can still mold, we can still influence , and there are so many negative social situations that they could otherwise be influenced by having a solid foundation of leadership and moralistic, high ethic values speaker who they can relate to, because they’re not an old preacher , they’re not somebody who they think ‘That’s not me,’ so they can be that person, they can relate to that person and then they can step up to be that person,” said Tara Godfrey, an organizer for the Young Caymanian Leadership Foundation.
To nominate someone for the Young Caymanian Leadership Award (YCLA), nominees must have Caymanian status and be between the ages of 20 and 35.
