Day three in the witness box, a woman accused of being a gold-digger is grilled by the prosecution.
On Friday (15 April) the jury heard, the day after the family of her elderly fiance told her they planned to take him back to Australia, Michelle Bouchard began moving large sums of money into her personal account. She also took out a safety deposit box at her own bank to keep her jewelry in.
Under cross examination, Miss Bouchard insisted she wasn’t trying to hide anything.
She was also asked about a $200,000 ring she bought herself, but said that millionaire Jim Handford was well aware of what she was doing and had signed a credit card authorisation to pay for part of it.
Miss Bouchard denies 26 theft related charges. The case continues next week.
