Rolly Bodden scored twice and Glen Cholette added another as Scholars topped George Town 3-0 Sunday (17 April) at Ed Bush Field in Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League play.
Bodden — who leads the Premier League with 18 goals — scored in the 19th minute and the 61st before Cholette added more insurance in the 85th.
Scholars remains in first place in the points table with the win, three clear of second-place Elite.
Elite kept pace with the leaders on the weekend by beating Cayman Athletic, 3-2.
Cayman Athletic trailed 2-1 until David Connolly equalised in the 86th minute. Elite’s Christopher Reeves then hit the winner in the first minute of extra time to deliver Elite the victory.
Sunset topped Roma 2-1, while the game between Academy and Bodden Town was abandoned. CIFA says the match must be looked at by the competition’s committee. Cayman 27 has heard reports of an incident between players and a referee at that match.
In the lone women’s game of the weekend, Scholars and Sunset drew 1-1.
Sunset leads the league with 20 points, 15 clear of Scholars. Elite is in third place. Alliance FC has withdrawn from the league.
