Bouchard lawyers plan sentence appeal

The legal team behind jailed con woman Michelle Bouchard will appeal the 12 year sentence handed down Thursday (21 April).

They will argue it’s too severe, and use case studies of previous trials in England, including one where a man was jailed for 13 years, one more than Miss Bouchard, after defrauding the public out of hundreds of millions of pounds.

The French Canadian was found guilty of 25 theft related charges and was jailed for 12 years, you’re watching video of her leaving the court in handcuffs following her sentence.

She was jailed for defrauding Australian multi-millionaire James Handford, who she began a relationship with in 2010.

But the jury didn’t believe her story the couple were in love, annd were planning on getting married.
