Breaking international barriers

Model Treveen “Nik” Stewart has made her way onto the big screen with television appearances, commercials for the Illinois Lottery and an endorsement deal with Nike.

Her most recent achievement however has been quite a surprising one for her and her team members, as the Caymanian model said she was the only woman of color that was cast at the famed fashion designer Vera Wang’s show.

Ms. Stewart says that she is hoping to break down racial barriers and that more will be done for younger black models entering the industry.

Ms. Stewart will host “Model Code,” an event geared towards aspiring models, Saturday 16 April at Celeb Boutique at the Marquee Plaza, 12-2 p.m..
