Fuel protest cancelled

Gas prices were on schedule to be protested on Saturday. However, the loss of local well-known businessman, Kent “Biggie” Rankin prompted the members of the committee called, “Cayman is fed up with gas prices,” to postpone the picketing until after Mr. Rankin’s funeral. Chairperson of the Committee George Ebanks said the protesting was postponed out of respect for the family of Mr. Rankin and picketing will resume should the prices continue to remain stubbornly high.

The picketing was originally intended to start at nine in the morning on Saturday until 3 p.m. The Committee will issue a statement as it relates to the resumption of the protest. Mr. Rankin’s funeral will be on Saturday, April 2nd at 2.30 p.m.
