Divers on Grand Cayman’s North Wall enjoyed an encounter with a super-sized loggerhead turtle Sunday morning.
Divers spotted the gentle giant while lionfish hunting near the Penny’s Arch dive site. The curious fellow made a few close passes, much to the delight of divers, who estimate the turtle’s size at around five feet long, perhaps even longer.
The turtle was practically big enough to support an ecosystem of its own. Several remoras were swimming along with it, and its shell was encrusted with barnacles.
