Minister: no decision yet in beach rock removal plan

The Minister of Environment told Cayman 27 there has been no decision yet regarding Dart Realty’s plan to remove beach rocks from a potential hotel site.

In March, Dart applied for a trial coastal works application to test the feasibility of removing all the beach rocks from the area.

Dart wants to use the land just north of Tiki beach to build a five-star luxury resort, but says if the rocky beach access can’t be improved for future guests, the hotel will never be built.

Those opposing the plan say it will set a dangerous precedent for future developments.
