Swimmers one step closer to training in 50-metre pool

Cayman’s competitive swimmers are one step closer to training in a 50-metre pool.

The two-lane pool at a private complex in South Sound was filled with 120,000 gallons of water this week.

The swimming community has long clamoured for a 50-metre pool, the distance used in international competition.

Davenport Development — the condo complex’s developer — said it will open the pool to local swimmers. Eventually the strata will decide how often it can be used by local athletes.
