Tatoosh reef damage fixed, says billionaire’s restoration team

Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen’s reef restoration team said, after just 24 days of work, the nearly 14,000 square feet of damage from mega-yacht Tatoosh has been fixed.

Vulcan’s reef restoration team, from Polaris Applied Sciences, said in just 300 manhours, it was able to reattach 429 hard corals bigger than 8 inches in diameter and 955 hard corals under that size, as well as reattaching more than 200 soft corals and sponges.

The team claims to have used 30 tons of cement and sand, in addition to 8 tons of rubble to reconstruct the reef.
