Turtle season off to cracking start in Cayman

Turtle season is right around the corner, and already, nesting females are digging their nests on Cayman’s beaches.

Last year was a banner year for turtle nests, with a record-breaking 437 nests identified across our three islands, but Cayman’s nesting populations are still under threat.

Department of Environment Research Officer Janice Blumenthal sat down to discuss the iconic animal, its dwindling population, and threats to its survival due to development and other man-made factors.
