Organisers of an LGBT conference to be held in Cayman this June hosted a sold-out dinner fundraiser Thursday night (28 April) at ICOA.
In its seventh year, the annual Queering Paradigms conference will be held for the first time in the Caribbean.
Nearly one-hundred people, including the governor, turned out to support the conference.
Queering Paradigms aims to challenge LGBT discrimination, and kickstart a discussion on a topic many might tend to avoid.
“We’re not pushing any particular viewpoint. It’s great to have these discussions out in the open, whether you’re for or against. I think it’s really important that we talk about these issues and it’s great that the Cayman islands is hosting this conference,” said conference organiser and Truman Bodden Law School Student Society President Olivia Connolly.
The conference is free and open to the public, no matter what viewpoints one may espouse.
Queering Paradigms takes place at the Marriott on June 11th and 12th.
