Finance Minister Marco Archer told Cayman 27 government is on track to push its 18-month budget through the LA by the June 30th deadline.
Minister Archer said the budget is almost ready to send to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as required by the Framework for Fiscal Responsibility and the Public Management and Finance Law. He said as the country is now in compliance with requirements, this will be the last budget that requires FCO approval.
“We have proven that we are not a renegade country. We do have the ability to manage our financial affairs prudently and in a responsible manner,” said Mr. Archer.
Minister Archer said while the 18-month budget is a lot of work, it and the 24-month budgets that will follow will save time in the LA.
