The Cayman Islands society of professional accountants (CISPA) have officially changed their name to the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA). The change was announced Thursday (May 5) at a Launch party held at Gardenia Court, Camana Bay.
CIIPA announced that the name-change was done to better reflect the role the institute plays as educators and regulators.
Over 70 members, government representatives and members of the financial services industry were in attendance as the group of Accountants announced plans for the future including ways to enhance Cayman’s reputation as the world’s global financial center.
CIIPA Secretary and past President, Mike Mannisto, credited the longevity of the company. “CIIPA is the largest and oldest association in the Cayman Islands and we have an amazing history over the past 46 years and this adds another historical milestone for CIIPA that we are all very proud of,” Mr. Mannisto said.
CIIPA is currently running a communications campaign through various media outlets in hopes of supporting the message about their recent name change and to raise awareness about the important role of accounting in Cayman’s financial services industry.
The Accounting Institute says their communications campaign is focused on career and scholarship opportunities available to Caymanians.
