Household items could be deadly weapons

Ordinary household objects are being used as deadly weapons, and police say they need your help to put a stop to it.

Earlier this week 31-year-old Mark Seymour was jailed for 8 years after he was found guilty of wounding with intent.

Although no weapon was recovered during the incident last year at Seven Mile Shops, police believe an ice-pick was used as a weapon, which left the victim with a punctured lung.

DC Samantha Sillitoe said, “Unfortunately, people are walking around with ice-picks, kitchen knives, and they are just everyday household items.

“But these are potentially life-killers and this needs to stop. And again, the police can only do this with assistance of the public to help us catch these people.”
