Junior Batabano hits the road

Batabano will take over the streets of Cayman later this week, but younger carnival lovers got to experience their own festival this past Saturday.

Since 2002, Junior Batabano has provided an opportunity for younger revellers to experience the music, colour, pageantry and creativity that make up the wonderful world of Carnival.

“Carnival is not just a West Indian thing, Carnival is a world wide phenomenon, you can find carnival in England, in Alaska, in lots of countries of the world, so why not Cayman.” Said Wendy-Ann George, a Junior Batabano organiser.

This weekend marks the 33rd anniversary of Cayman Batabano and as we heard this morning on Daybreak, Cayman Brac’s version, Braccanal, will take place the following weekend.
