Preparing for the season

In three weeks time hurricane season will begin, but how prepared are you?

National Weather Service Director John Tibbetts says planning for any storm must be done in stages, and then tested to ensure all aspects work.

During an interview with Cayman 27 Mr. Tibbetts posed his own set of questions that he says everyone should ask themselves.

“Do I need to buy cans of corned beef and food supplies in February or March, or something like that?” He asked. The answer to which is no.

“You usually buy those closer to when the storm is going to impact you,” said Mr Tibbets.

He then asked, “What about something like hurricane shutters or methods by which you are going to board up your home, have you though about that.” He followed it up by saying these things have to be thought of well in advance.
