Reef damage incidents examined on eve of Carnival Magic anniversary

Two years ago this week, the Carnival Magic made one of Cayman’s most infamous port calls. On august 27th, 2014 the cruise ship dropped anchor outside the designated anchorage zone, destroying more than 16,000 square feet of a pristine coral reef just south of George Town harbour.

Cayman 27’s Joe Avary, a key Cayman Magic Reef Restoration volunteer and Cayman diving legend and International Scuba Diving Hall of Farmer Peter Milburn joined News Director Tammi Sulliman to discuss this and other memorable reef damage incidents through the years.
