Domestic violence training programme begins

The domestic violence intervention training programme is underway and it’s geared to help those involved with the judicial system better understand how to handle domestic violence cases.
The group consisted of police officers, lawyers, counsellors, among others.
The programme is three days long… another will be held in November.
“Professionals get to understand the instances that are involved and very often we have individuals who say to victims why don’t you just leave and so if you don’t understand all the cycle that they are going through then it’s easy to say that, so we walk people through exercises as to why it’s not so easy for a victim to leave whether it’s financial whether it’s psychological,” Brenda Dawkins, programme facilitator.
